Nestle CEO sees emerging markets as the growth stimulant

The world's biggest food group, Nestle, expects fast-growing emerging markets to drive future growth, helped by new products aimed at ageing populations in mature markets. Kellogg announced operating profit growth

Kellogg Company today announced solid operating profit growth for the full-year and fourth quarter 2009.Reported earnings for full-year 2009 were $1.2 billion, or $3.16 per diluted share, an increase of 6 percent from full-year 2008 of $1.1 billion, or $2.99 per diluted share which included a 53rd week in the fourth quarter of 2008. Unilever announced sales growth but with lower profits

Unilever has announced underlying sales growth of 3.5% for 2009, but blamed “a challenging environment” for a slump in profits.Price cuts helped drive volume growth of 2.3% over the year, accelerating in the fourth quarter to 5%. As Haiti struggles in the wake of last Tuesday's earthquake, companies including Coca-Cola, ConAgra and Kellogg are giving money to the American Red Cross for help.
