JBS, Brazilian meat group, has announced a deal that will make it the largest lamb producer in Australia.

The company said yesterday (15 December) that it had agreed to pay Dutch meat business Vion Food Group US$30m for lamb processor Tatiara Meat Co.in Australia. The transaction, arranged through JBS's local subsidiary Swift Australia. Tatiara exports to the US, Canada and Europe and  has annual revenues of around A$200m.The deal is subject to regulatory approval. JBS had also acquired in September this year US poultry giant Pilgrim's Pride.
