Today Reuters reports that there are rumors that Cadbury Board members are in touch with their counterparts in Hershey for seeking a "merger partner" against their "hostile bidder"...Those who remember my previous comments know that my expectation from this battle is a Hershey involvement. A source says: "As they go through this process, they feel as though they (Cadbury) want to have a management say in the organization and I think that they perceive that one of the suitors is better than the other," . Hershey is ofcourse hesitant since Cadbury is  twice its size, but on the other hand keep in mind that Hershey and Cadbury are already partners. They each hold the licenses to market the other's products outside their domestic markets. The family-built companies share other similarities, including a history of charitable involvement in their communities. Even if Hershey do not bid for Cadbury, it brings extra tension to Kraft for raising  the offer to Cadbury shareholders. On the other hand, there is also Ferrero who had expressed interest. However I am not expecting them to be a bidder. Hershey and Italy's Ferrero have until January 23 to put in a competing offer. Let's wait and see...Until  then I am sure several more postings for this deal will appear...
