Under: retail
Retail sales are continuing to rise in China, in a further sign of the resilience of the country's economy during the recession.
The National Bureau of Statistics has reported that retail revenues in China expanded by 15.8% in November, to 1.13 trillion yuan ($165.5bn; €116.1bn; £103.8bn), although this rate of growth was down by 5% year-on-year.
Urban areas delivered an increase of 16.5%, to 760.6 billion yuan, compared with an improvement of 14.4%, to 373.3 billion yuan, in rural markets.
Over the period from January to November, totals have reached 11.27 trillion yuan, an increase of 15.3% when measured against the same time period in 2008, according to the NBS.
