Sales of private label products in Spain have risen 5.6% to reach 41% in July as consumers feel the pinch from the country's deep recession.

According to Nielsen reports, over the period, branded food products saw their turnover drop 3%. Consumer spending in Spain is likely to fall by almost 10% over the holiday season this year, with the climate unlikely to improve substantially in 2010, according to new figures.
